Charity is another word for love. Charity listens to music. She enjoys the feathering sound of a harp, the command of a trumpet, and songs of her sisters. Practicing her piano, she understands that notes played without love, isn’t music. It is just noise.

Charity seems to do everything with a loving heart. She doesn’t complain while doing dishes and she forgives others easily when they do something unkind. She may break a glass or burn the cookies and feels bad only for a moment. Deep down Charity knows that love covers all mistakes. Mother will help her clean up the mess and the next time, the cookies will be perfect. When the baby cries to a clap of thunder or a dog barking, Charity wipes her tears, gently saying, “Hush now Sissy. Perfect love casts out fear.”

At school, Charity lets others take their turn in front of her in the lunch line. She often sits with the girl in the wheelchair on the playground and they play card games and tell stories.
When others think of Charity, they want to be like her. She is honest, lovely, pure, and almost always does the right thing. Her father calls her “Love.”
